Our company’s culture of outstanding leadership and service has been what has set us apart from the rest since WT “Toby” Cassels began the company in 1950, and it is what continues to set us apart today.

We recently asked some of our South Charlotte Service Center associates what our company’s culture means to them and how it influences the way they work. Read their responses below:
“Living our culture in everything we do – making sure to engage with all of the associates, spending time with the associates, and riding with drivers. [It’s] making a difference… with SEFL Serves events, and providing world class service through the beliefs in our quality pyramid.”

“I started as a part-time freight handler in CLT – will be with SEFL 8 years this upcoming March. The service here sells itself, we have great people here. Our drivers are top notch and the most polite – that is the feedback I get from the customers we serve. I currently serve as a driver mentor and “run wild”. I love seeing different customers every day.”

“I try to make all my customers feel as though they belong to me – and that I am their SEFL rep for whatever they need. From the first time I meet them and deliver or pickup their freight, I want them to see the professional manner that I represent and we do as a business. After a while I want them to feel as though I am an extension of their business. So much so that after a few years when I have to be out that they worry some about who is going to serve them. I try to take new drivers in my area and teach them the way I would like to be treated as a customer. As if every customer is their friend or relative. Because in a sense, aren’t they eventually? I have worked for SEFL for 12.5 years and have always been proud to wear my badge and the red shirt.”

“I am an Account Development Manager who specializes in Process Improvement for Sales which entails digging through data and finding opportunities to work on. Whether it be assisting the operations team with gaining more customers and/or shipments on a particular route, or looking for ways to grow a certain service, Canada freight for example, I search for ways to help better our Account Manager’s territories, their respective service center, Region 2 as a whole, which in turns helps our company flourish.”

“Our responses to the recent disasters serve as a reminder to me of what our culture is founded on. When we have situations that have a negative impact on our associates, like natural disasters or the “great recession”, our response is always to ask what can do to help our people. We have asked the question so much since the day that we have been founded that is a natural response. We don’t just ask the question but we then do everything that we can to take care of our people.”
